Wie Ihnen die Elektrotherapie bei Rückenschmerzen helfen kann

How electrotherapy can help you with back pain

Every third German citizen suffers from back pain. The lumbar spine area is particularly affected. But many sufferers also complain of pain in the neck and shoulder muscles. The cause often lies in the back muscles or in the joints and spine. The largest muscle area in the human body is the back muscles. It begins below the neck area and extends down to the tailbone. The back muscles have various tasks: These include stabilizing the upright posture, dosing the movement, supporting locomotion and standing safely. The deep and surface muscles overlap in different layers.

The structure of the back muscles

The surface muscles of the back

The surface structure of the back is responsible for the connection of the arms to the back, rotation of the head, the clavicle, arm movements, side-to-side movement of the torso, and movement of the shoulder blades. It also supports the breathing process and is stressed when carrying loads. The surface muscles consist of individual muscle fibers that are combined into a muscle fiber bundle. A strong connective tissue is responsible for this summary. Arteries, veins and capillaries are integrated into the muscle.

The deep muscles of the back

The deep muscles consist of limbs that lie on the spine and are surrounded by connective tissue. This connective tissue is also known as fascia. The deep muscles are responsible for lateral movements, backward movements, forward movements and rotations.

What causes back pain?

There are a variety of reasons why pain symptoms and back problems arise. A lack of exercise, one-sided strain on the skeletal system, an unnatural posture and poorly developed abdominal and back muscles are often responsible for back pain. TENS pain therapy can reduce tension-related pain as well as joint and nerve pain.

Lumbago, slipped disc and sciatica

Lumbago manifests itself as a sudden, stabbing and persistent pain in the lumbar region and vertebral joints. Sitting up from a bent position is particularly painful. The pain ultimately leads to paralysis, numbness and restricted movement in the back area. If the thoracic spine is also affected, breathing can also cause pain. Lumbago occurs after a jerky movement or excessive strain, for example due to underdeveloped back muscles. The pain can also radiate to other areas of the body. They usually disappear within a week because the muscle tension has then relaxed. With TENS stimulation current therapy it is possible to loosen the tense muscles so that pain relief occurs. EMS training is helpful in preventing lumbago. This trains and strengthens the back muscles.

The herniated disc can occur in any part of the spine. However, the lumbar spine is often affected. If the herniated disc is in the lumbar region, the pain can sometimes radiate to the legs and buttocks. If the cervical spine is affected, it is possible that the pain radiates to the arm and hand. In rare cases, this can result in paralysis and numbness. EMS training can prevent herniated discs. Training targets both hard-to-train and superficial muscles. The joints and ligaments are relieved and the back muscles are stabilized.

The sciatic nerve is the longest and thickest nerve in the body. It runs from the lumbar spine down to the feet. The sciatic nerve is responsible for the leg muscles and transmits the sensations of the legs. Wear and tear on the vertebral body can cause the nerve or nerve roots to become pinched. Excessive tension in the back muscles and inflammation of the nerves can also be responsible for sciatica pain. With TENS stimulation current therapy you can reduce your back pain.

Relieve back pain with TENS pain therapy and strengthen the back muscles with EMS muscle stimulation

Relieve back and neck pain with TENS

A painful back and neck can be treated with TENS stimulation current therapy . The nerves are stimulated and the pain is relieved. The stimulation current generated by the TENS device blocks the nerve pathways, meaning that the pain is not transmitted. The muscular tensions are released.

Counteract shoulder pain

The special shoulder electrode is suitable for pain in the shoulder and shoulder joint. The electrode is also suitable for building shoulder muscles with EMS.

EMS training for back health

(Fig. shows the back electrode 20 x 12 cm .)

The pain is usually caused by weak muscles. Due to the predominantly sedentary activity, the muscles atrophy and there is not enough time for exercise. Too much strain during physical work also causes back pain or injuries. Therefore, EMS training is a time-saving and cost-effective alternative that can be used at home. While with normal strength training you have to train several hours a week to achieve efficient results, with EMS training it is possible to achieve noticeable results within two training sessions per week, each lasting 20 minutes. The increased metabolism during and after electrical muscle stimulation causes a high work rate, which leads to an increased amount of calories burned. As muscle mass is also built up, the basal calorie metabolic rate increases. By building up your muscle mass and effectively training your deep muscles, you can relieve back pain and relieve tension. To avoid overexertion, it is important to allow sufficient recovery periods between training sessions.

What other positive effects can you achieve through EMS?

The muscle group in the lower back area in particular is difficult to train with exercise. The EMS training also reaches the deeper muscle areas. A strengthened core is important for stabilizing the back. EMS training on the middle back can improve posture as the spine gains stability.

Benefits of EMS training

Since, in contrast to classic strength training, no weights or dumbbells are used, EMS does not put any strain on the joints or intervertebral discs. Thanks to the gentle application, the training is also suitable for untrained people and can be carried out independently at any time from home.
