TENS application for elbow pain

Woman has elbow pain, which is examined by a physiotherapist. One treatment option is a TENS device.

Using a TENS device on the elbow can often provide relatively quick pain relief. Due to the effect of the electrical impulses of the TENS device, it is no longer possible for the nerves to transmit the pain stimulus to the brain, and the elbow pain is quickly relieved.

Another TENS application on the elbow consists of setting the parameters of the TENS device in such a way that endorphins[1] are released. Endorphins are pain-relieving, endogenous "anti-pain hormones". Furthermore, the use of TENS stimulation current therapy is considered to promote blood circulation[2].

TENS electrode placement for elbow pain

If the elbow hurts, it can have various causes. In order to specifically address the pain, an electrode that is ergonomically tailored to the body part is an important addition to the TENS device. This X-shaped electrode can be perfectly positioned on the elbow joint. The targeted stimulation current ensures that the pain can subside within a short time. The electrodes have good adhesive strength, so they can be used again and again.

Please note when using TENS:

The intensity should be adjusted so that it is felt as a pleasant tingling sensation. The duration of the application should be approx. 40 minutes in order to be able to achieve a lasting reduction in pain. It also makes sense to switch programs every now and then.
